Summary

This position will focus on academic assessment primarily related to undergraduate education in transformative learning.  The position will implement assessment efforts for the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), a required report for the reaffirmation of accreditation with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).  The QEP topic is Leadership in Progress and Service:  Creating Intentional and Transformative Learning Experiences.  While the Academic Assessment Manager will be positioned in the Office of Academic Effectiveness, the QEP is organizationally positioned within the Office of Undergraduate Education (OUE). Georgia Institute of Technology is scheduled for reaffirmation of accreditation in 2025.  The position will focus on the design and implementation for the QEP assessment process, collaborating with the leadership of the QEP.  Successful implementation of these efforts will require close collaboration between OAE and the leadership in OUE.

Job Responsibilities

1. QEP Assessment: Manage assessment efforts for the QEP, a component of Georgia Tech's accreditation through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) (more information may be found at https://provost.gatech.edu/quality-enhancement-plan).
   1. Along with the Executive Director for Assessment, meet periodically with the leadership of the QEP to ensure alignment of QEP assessment with other assessment and accreditation efforts across campus.
   2. Collaborate closely with the QEP Director, faculty, and staff to plan and implement QEP assessment and SACSCOC reporting (QEP due February 2025).
2. Initiate and oversee data collection for purposes of measuring the QEP Outcomes:
   1. Collaborate with QEP leadership and faculty, as well as the Executive Director of Assessment, the Associate Provost for Academic Effectiveness, and the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education (or designee), to implement the 5-year assessment plan for QEP.
   2. Collaborate with faculty and staff to implement assessment processes and good practices.
   3. Assist with organizing, outlining, and writing assessment reports and SACSOC reports.
   4. Serve on appropriate Institute committees related to the QEP and academic assessment.
   5. Participate in accreditation activities.
3. Academic Assessment
   1. Assist with additional projects, efforts, or requests related to academic assessment as assigned by the Associate Provost

Academic Professional

• Terminal degree
• Significant related experience or promotion from the rank of Associate Academic Professional
• Quality of performance and potential development must be recognized by peers

• Evidence of superior performance in the chosen field
• Recognition by peers (whether national, regional, or local)
• Successful and measurable related experience
• Five (5) years or more as an Academic Professional

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Experience

• Direct experience in assessment of academic programs - preferably in a higher education  setting.
• Professional experience in a research university setting.
• Experience in basic statistics, database/spreadsheet management, and data analysis.
• Experience with educational survey information.
• Experience with statistical analysis packages (e.g., R, SPSS, SAS) and/or with text analysis software (e.g.NVivo, etc.).    

Preferred Skills & Abilities

• Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with faculty and staff members from diverse backgrounds on assessment projects.
• Demonstrated ability to assess student learning outcomes, including applied learning contexts outside the traditional classroom, using a variety of direct and indirect assessment methods.
• Demonstrated fluency in research and report writing, as well as oral and graphic presentation of assessment findings.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Proven expertise in designing, conducting, analyzing, and reporting on assessment projects.
• Possess excellent organization and planning, prioritization, problem-solving, follow through, and time management.
