Job Duties
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conducts in-depth analysis of UTHSC strategic plan performance indicators.
- Analyzes data across domains to gain insight into factors that affect student success, graduation outcomes, employment outcomes, and other strategic goals of the University.
- Identifies emerging trends and opportunities through the analysis of data, enabling proactive decision-making and strategic planning.
- Documents methods and results providing clear explanations of methods and assumptions made.
- Uses Business Intelligence tools to create and distribute reports and dashboards to stakeholders.
- Creates and maintains a platform to monitor and track UTHSC strategic plan performance indicators.
- Prepares and presents performance reports to senior leadership and other stakeholders.
- Partners with stakeholders to evaluate business intelligence needs, translate needs into analytic requirements, and coordinate the development of solutions.
- Coordinates with data providers to transform and transfer data between platforms by designing and managing ETL pipelines.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: Master’s Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Psychology, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field of study. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE: Four (4) years of relevant experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience equal to ten (10) years. (Prior experience in Higher Education in Institutional research/data analytics preferred.)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of advanced statistics/analytics.
- Experience with statistical packages such as Python, R, SPSS, SAS, and MATLAB.
- Proficiency with relational database programming in SQL.
- Experience with processing large amounts of structured and unstructured data.
- Experience with using data modeling and visualization tools such as Power BI.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects concurrently.
Institution Description
UTHSC was established in Memphis in 1911, dedicated solely to health science education and research. There are approximately 3,200 students enrolled in one of 32 health-related degree programs or one of 18 graduate certificate programs and approximately 1,400 residents and fellows receive training (most of whom are in one of 85 programs accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education) through the Graduate Medical Education Program.
