Job Duties

Position Summary:

The Data Manager/Analyst will support program evaluation, continuous quality improvement, ongoing maintenance of data required for accreditation, and tracking of strategic plan outcomes by providing oversight of all activities relating to:

  • collection of outcome data from multiple internal and external sources
  • organization and maintenance of databases
  • analysis of complex data to monitor program performance and trends
  • generation and distribution of intuitive reports and dashboards to communicate findings to the appropriate parties
  • documentation and tracking the flow of data and actions taken.

Position Responsibilities

In this position, responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • database modeling
  • data collection and management
  • statistical analysis
  • utilizing qualitative and quantitative methods for data collection and analysis
  • building and maintaining dashboards
  • creating data visualizations as needed
  • reporting data insights for the purposes of program assessment, quality improvement, accreditation compliance monitoring, and evaluation of processes, performance, effectiveness, efficiency and other quality measures

Job Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:   

  • Bachelor’s degree in information science or related field
  • At least three years of relevant full-time experience in the collection, cleaning, and analysis of data
  • Experience in building dashboards and data visualizations that support data-informed decision making
  • Advanced skills in SQL, JMP or R, Excel, and Tableau
  • Experience in and understanding of statistical analytics, including predictive modeling

 Preferred Qualifications:   

  • Master’s degree in related field
  • Experience in management and analysis of data in higher education program assessment

  • utilizing data visualization and dashboard tools (Eg. Excel and Tableau)
  • able to work independently with a high degree of reliability, accuracy, and productivity
  • able to exercise independent judgement effectively in decision making process
  • strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail
  • management of multiple projects and ability to prioritize tasks
  • strong interpersonal, team and communication skills
  • desire and capability to continue self-directed learning in the field
  • commitment to team growth through sharing of knowledge and integration of skills

Institution Description

The Office of Accreditation and Quality Improvement serves the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, one of the 4 public medical schools in the SUNY system.  The Jacobs School is part of the University at Buffalo, a flagship institution for SUNY.

The Jacobs school houses the MD program, accredited by the LCME, as well as 10 PhD programs, 13 Masters programs, and 7 Undergraduate programs in biomedical sciences.  We also house 72 residency programs in partnership with 8 hospital partners and UBMD clinical practices.
