The search committee will begin reviewing applications on November 1, 2024, and continue to accept and review applications until the position is filled. The anticipated start date is August 1, 2025. Applicants should upload the following materials to:

Before a conditional offer of employment with tenure is finalized, candidates will be asked to disclose any pending investigations or previous findings of sexual or professional misconduct. Job Duties

Tenured/Tenure-Track Open Rank Professor in Higher Education and Student Affairs
Indiana University Bloomington, the flagship campus of Indiana University and a leading research-intensive institution, is accepting applications for an outstanding tenure-track/tenured faculty colleague, within its nationally recognized Higher Education & Student Affairs program. This will be a full-time 10-month appointment in the School of Education’s Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. Rank will be determined by one’s qualifications and experience with an anticipated start date of 08/1/2025. The successful candidate will join the faculty of the Higher Education and Student Affairs Program and be able to contribute to the top-ranked program’s graduate educational activities and complement the existing strengths of the HESA program and its associated School of Education research center, the Center for Postsecondary Research (CPR). 

Key responsibilities of the position include:
  • Conduct high-quality research and disseminate it in peer-reviewed journals and other well-regarded outlets.
  • Maintain a clear program of research and obtain external funds to support research.
  • Teach and supervise graduate Higher Education and Student Affairs courses.
  • Mentor and advise master’s and doctoral students, including leading and serving on doctoral dissertation committees.
  • Work to ensure equitable program experiences and outcomes for groups underrepresented in higher education.
  • Participate in departmental and university service activities.

Program Information

The Higher Education and Student Affairs Program at Indiana University Bloomington is a top-ranked program according to U.S. News and World Report. The program serves undergraduate and graduate students through its undergraduate major, masters, specialist, doctoral, and professional certificate programs. Program faculty support the Center for Postsecondary Research (CPR), which houses several large research projects.

Job Qualifications

Minimum required qualifications:
  • Doctorate in higher education, student affairs administration, or a closely related field earned by start date.
  • Proven record of peer-reviewed published scholarship commensurate with their rank.
  • Strong record of externally funded research, commensurate with rank.
  • For candidates applying for the Associate- or Full-rank position: Evidence of effective graduate teaching, advising, and mentoring.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Proven record of obtaining large, federally-funded grants.
  • Expertise in employing critical quantitative methods and working with large data sets.
  • Experience with teaching and advising graduate students in higher education and student affairs, including directing dissertation studies.
  • Although the area of specialty is open, we prefer applicants whose research and teaching complements or extends our program’s emphasis on DEIJ.
