Associate Director of IR

Job Duties
Reporting to the University Registrar and Director of Institutional Research, the Associate Director of Institutional Research manages the accuracy, integrity, and security of the student data within the student information system (Colleague) and the data warehouse. The Associate Director of Institutional Research manages, creates, validates, and disseminates all reports for internal and external constituents, including, but not limited to, federal reporting (IPEDS), compliance reporting, the Common Data Set, and other regular reports. The Associate Director of Institutional Research will serve as the primary contact for ensuring the quality of data collected and input from various units across the university.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Manage the accuracy and integrity of the student data being uploaded into the student information system (Colleague) by external systems or manual processes.
- Monitor FERPA training completion and manage Colleague access requests.
- Streamline and improve quality of processes using the technology available.
- Design, coordinate, and distribute operational internal and external reports.
- Participate in Data Steward, Data Reporting, and Data Literacy efforts.
- Lead institutional Data Quality efforts including regular audits of data to ensure compliance.
- Compile and enter data for annual IPEDS reporting.
- Compile and enter data for the Common Data Set for annual reporting to: Big Futures (College Board), Fiske, US News & World Report, Petersons, and others.
- Assist the University Registrar and Director of Institutional Research with other reporting mandates from accreditors, state or federal government such as annual AICCU reports, NCAA, WSCUC, and others.
- Filter ad hoc data requests and report as necessary.
- Develop and run various models for forecasting and projections.
- Using institutional benchmarks, conduct peer, competitor and aspirant analyses for competitive advantages and business intelligence.
- Stay current regarding higher education trends in relation to Institutional Research.
- Conduct and participate in meetings, presentations, and committees as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
Any combination equivalent to, but not limited to, the following:
Experience/Training/Education:
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in social science, statistics, mathematics, business, higher education or a related field.
- One or more years of experience working in institutional research or a similar office.
- Proficiency with student information systems, such as Ellucian Colleague, or other large databases;
- Proficiency with business intelligence software such SAP Business Objects or related platforms.
- Experience with statistical software and relational database technology, especially MS SQL Server (including the use of SQL to query databases to retrieve and transform data).
- Knowledge of institutional research theory, principles, methods, and ethics.
- Experience with the basics of design and aesthetics of data visualization, such as reports or online dashboards, especially Tableau or PowerBI
