Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for monitoring and reporting on academic program assessment of student learning and academic program effectiveness to meet regulatory and institutional accreditation requirements. Develop knowledge of modern practices in assessment of student learning and in evaluation of program effectiveness to serve as an institutional resource for faculty and staff as they develop appropriate assessment plans/activities for implementation within the classroom or within an academic program. Serve as the college’s first point of reference on how to develop and implement effective assessment and evaluation processes and procedures.
- Develop and deliver training related to assessment of student learning, program viability and program development to faculty and staff.
- Research and monitor national, state, and regional legislative regulations and policy requirements, and take appropriate action to maintain compliance. Make recommendations to the Vice President of Academic Affairs related to implementation of changes that affect Collin College assessment of student learning policies/procedures and evaluation of academic program effectiveness.
- Assist Vice President of Academic Affairs with collecting documentation for assigned areas of responsibility to demonstrate compliance with appropriate SACSCOC principles and regulatory requirements.
- Consult with program faculty and instructional administrators to assist with development of effective student learning assessment and for improving academic program effectiveness. Support instructional administrators and faculty with training and data for evaluating program viability and program improvement opportunities.
- Work directly with Collin College’s Core Objectives Assessment Team (COAT) and Academic Services Office staff to assist faculty members with identifying and documenting efforts made to improve the teaching of core objectives in core courses at Collin College. Work with COAT and the VP of Academic Affairs to evaluate core objective assessment results each year and to identify institutional guidance on goals for efforts to improve learning of core objectives each year.
- Work directly with Collin College faculty and instructional administrators to ensure that academic programs (Core/Transfer and Workforce) are identifying student learning outcomes for targeted improvement, that effective action plans are developed to drive that improvement, and that documentation of the resulting efforts are aligned to meeting institutional accreditation and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with the institutional research office to ensure that appropriate data is made available to academic programs and to academic administrators for program review.
- Assist the VP of Academic Affairs with scheduling assessment cycles for new academic programs being developed by Collin College. Communicate with faculty and instructional administrators to ensure that all stakeholders know what assessment and program review reporting requirements are due in any given year.
- Assume responsibility for operating within the approved budget. Serve on other committees as assigned, and work a variable schedule as needed, potentially some evenings and/or weekends. Prepare and/or verify reports pertaining to areas of responsibility.
Job Qualifications
Required
Master's degree from an accredited institution.
Five (5) years of related higher education experience.
Three (3) years of demonstrated experience defining and implementing educational assessment of student learning outcomes.
Preferred
Doctorate degree from an accredited institution.
Higher Education teaching experience.
Two (2) years of supervisory experience.

Job Summary:
Provide leadership for districtwide compliance with state and federal accreditation requirements related to assessment of student learning outcomes and assessment of academic program effectiveness. Lead implementation and continued development of student learning assessment processes/procedures and academic program review. Provide training and guidance to faculty about how to implement assessment strategies that will ensure compliance with SACSCOC principles related to student learning assessment. Maintain accurate documentation that makes assessment information accessible to key stakeholders. Assess and report on progress to the Board of Trustees, Collin Leadership Team and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) as required.
Required
Master's degree from an accredited institution.
