The Office of Institutional Research & Assessment at The University of Alabama is seeking an Institutional Research Analyst. This position is responsible for providing analytical support to The University of Alabama's administrative efforts by creating and maintaining context data and information, providing statistical analyses, responding to surveys and ad-hoc information requests, developing and conducting custom research methods for institutional studies, and enhancing the University's effectiveness through information and process integration.
This position requires demonstrated analytical and organizational skills with knowledge of advanced research methods, statistical techniques, and quantitative methods; advanced skills in SAS and data management techniques; ability to organize research results and conclusions for effective presentations in a wide variety of formats and situations; proficiency with spreadsheet and data visualization (Excel, R, or SAS Visual Analytics); strong oral and written communication skills; ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a group; ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet strict deadlines as part of a fast-paced problem solving team working with minimum supervision; and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, faculty, and administrators.
Minimum requirements are a bachelor’s degree in a research or analytical field of study with a minimum of 2 years related research or analytical experience; or a master's degree or higher in a research or analytical field of study. Preference will be given to candidates with experience and knowledge of data analytics and big data techniques; knowledge of issues and current trends in higher education; and experience in an institutional research office at an institution of higher education. Qualified applicants must also pass a background check as a condition to employment.
