Ball State University Libraries includes Bracken Library and branch libraries in the Cooper Science Building, Architecture Building and Health Professions Building. The Libraries employs 48 professionals and 68 staff employees. With over 1.2 million volumes and 300 databases, the Libraries provides access to a full spectrum of scholarly resources and also offers vibrant learning space for over 1.3 million annual visitors.

Position Function: Provide leadership and management in the development and coordination of an inclusive and comprehensive strategic assessment program across all library units with a focus on user experience and measurable student success and learning outcomes; work collaboratively to develop metrics and methods for the assessment of library services, spaces, collections, and technologies; collect, analyze, document, interpret, represent, and report data to support evidence-based decision making, advance strategic objectives, and communicate the value and potential of the University Libraries; promote a culture of assessment through providing training, consultative services, and engaging partners, collaborators, and stakeholders in developing data skills, competencies, and dexterity.

Job Qualifications

Minimum qualifications: MLS/MLIS/MIS degree from an ALA-accredited program or other relevant advanced degree with focus in statistics, service design, business analytics, data science, qualitative research or related discipline.  Proven experience applying quantitative and qualitative assessment methodologies; strong analytical and innovative problem-solving skills; experience developing and implementing successful assessment programs to achieve measurable outcomes; in depth knowledge of various statistical software such as SPSS, NVivo, Tableau, etc. and data visualization platforms; working knowledge of basic Microsoft Office applications.  Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish positive and productive collaborations working with diverse audiences and colleagues throughout the Libraries and beyond; excellent oral and written communication skills, especially when presenting data; ability to work evenings and/or weekends.     

 

Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

 

Preferred qualifications: Additional advanced degrees.
