This is an Institutional Research position whose primary purpose is to direct and manage institution-wide data, metrics, and management information about the institution’s student, faculty and staff, enrollment and academic programs, facilities, and related items as required for federal, state, and UNC system reporting. The position directly supports the institution’s planning and assessment processes position requires significant levels of autonomy and a range of skills to design and execute institutional studies.
This Senior Research Analyst will have the primary responsibility for data analytics in areas of student success for the campus. The Senior Research Analyst will be a resource for student success initiatives, identifying opportunities to effect changes that will foster greater success (e.g. learning, retention, graduation) among students. The skills required include data management, proficiency with statistical analysis software such as SAS, SPSS, STATA, and/or R, and proficiency with data modeling techniques.
Minimum Education/Experience: Master’s degree in social sciences, statistics, mathematics or a related field, including successful completion of coursework in statistics.
Preferred Education/Experience: Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., statistics, operations research, bioinformatics, economics, computational biology, computer science, mathematics).
At least three years of relevant work experience in data analysis or related field.
Experience with statistical software (e.g., SAS, SPSS, R, MATLAB, STATA) and database languages (e.g., SQL).
Experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau)
Must possess a combination of business focus, strong analytical and problem solving skills, and programming knowledge.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently to accomplished unit goals and project objectives.
