The American Dental Education Association (ADEA) is seeking to add an experienced Data Visualization Senior Analyst to our team of high-performing professionals.

Summary of Position

As a key member of the Office of Policy and Educational Research (OPER), you will actively support the research programmatic activities of ADEA by fulfilling data collection and analysis duties, as well as building interactive data visualization tools. This includes the following components:

  • Develop and administer ADEA surveys, in collaboration with the Senior Director of Research.
  • Collect data through other methods than the survey format, as needed.
  • Build and maintain databases, including keeping up to date the documentation of all data collection instruments.
  • Analyze ADEA survey data and data from other sources utilizing statistical methods, when appropriate.
  • Create and maintain interactive dashboards for ADEA members.
  • Design, develop and produce interactive graphics of structured content and data for the website and presentations.
  • Optimize navigation, layout, user interface and user experience of interactive graphics and dynamic content.
  • Provide cross-browser and mobile web browser support for interactive graphics and dynamic visualization of content.
  • Use Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) to connect interactive graphics and content with social media outlets to engage members and further ADEAs brand.
  • Create automated individual PDF profiles with unique information for each profile.
  • Responsible for the management and updating of online data from OPER.
  • Assist in drafting data analysis for the ADEA Journal of Dental Education and research reports.
  • Assist in preparation of conference presentations and present on ADEA data tools, when needed.
  • Provide technical assistance to members in completing ADEA surveys.
  • Monitor, track and respond to data requests from both internal and external audiences.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

Desired First-Year Outcomes

  • Build an interactive data tool for ADEA research, policy and communication needs.
  • Create and field ADEA surveys in Qualtrics.
  • Update the OPER databases with a new year of data.
  • Assist in data analysis of ADEA survey data.

Job Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree and seven years of analytical and data visualization work experience; or a master's degree and five years of relevant experience.
  • Languages: Python or R, HTML 5, CSS 3, Javascript, Java, PHP
  • Frameworks: jQuery, d3js, AngularJS, Modernizr, Bootstrap
  • Source Code Control: Git
  • Software: Qualtrics, Tableau, SPSS or STATA, Processing, Adobe Creative Suite
  • Strong working knowledge of SQL and Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including PowerPoint.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to clearly and concisely exchange ideas, facts and technical information with others.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and meticulous focus on sensitive and time sensitive materials and activities.
