Senior Research Analyst

Job Duties

This individual will assist in analyzing the effectiveness of recruitment strategies and strategic financial aid programs, developing at-risk student persistence models, developing predictive enrollment models, creating data dashboards and visualizations using industry packages (e.g. Workday, Cognos 11, Tableau and/or Power BI), reporting on institutional data, responding to ad hoc requests from constituents across campus, and informing the expansion of the University data warehouse.

The university seeks a professional with a commitment to and understanding of the academic mission who will bring an economist’s perspective to the business of higher education, has the ability to clearly communicate timely and relevant information and analysis to the AVP for Enrollment Management and other enrollment leaders, administrators, and decision-makers to provide important context and facilitate decision-making.

Job Qualifications

Required Minimum Qualifications:  Bachelor's degree and 4 years of related experience; OR a Master's degree and 2 years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience using or conducting analysis with statistical packages (e.g. Stata, R, SAS, or SPSS);

Degree in discipline which emphasized quantitative skills (e.g. business analytics, statistics, social sciences, economics, educational leadership;

Experience utilizing, managing, or analyzing large datasets;

Experience in enrollment management at an educational institution, or working knowledge of applied models of higher education enrollment;

Master’s degree with a background in economics/behavioral economics (e.g. econometrics, elasticity of demand, demand analysis, discrete choice models);

Demonstrated proficiency with and understanding of statistical models of behavior from simple frequencies to advanced inferential and predictive analysis

Institution Description

The Enrollment Research Team (ERT) within the Office of the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management at Iowa State University is seeking a Senior Research Analyst to provide research and data analysis for institutional leaders and decision-makers.  The Senior Research Analyst will be responsible for developing econometric models to guide tuition and student financial aid policies, and conduct demand analysis to identify and evaluate recruitment markets.
