Loyola University Maryland has an opportunity for a self-motivated individual to serve as Research/Business Intelligence Analyst in the Office of Institutional Research. The Office of Institutional Research consists of four professional staff and one support staff. Reporting to the Director of Institutional Research, the Research/Business Intelligence Analyst performs the collection, maintenance, analysis, and reporting of official university data to both external and internal constituencies. The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (Master’s preferred) and at least two years of experience working with database management systems and data analysis.
Reporting to the Director of Institutional Research, the Research/Business Intelligence Analyst performs the collection, maintenance, analysis, and reporting of official university data to both external and internal constituencies.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
• Manage data supplied from institutional databases and ensure its accuracy and integrity for reporting purposes
• Maintain institutional research data warehouses
• Collaborate with various Information Technology departments to support automation of data retrieval including updating/maintaining business rules, input/output requirements, and other procedural and technical matters
• Design reports, spreadsheets, and report generation procedures
• Create interactive data dashboards using Tableau
• Interpret and provide official institutional statistics for a wide variety of external agencies as well as internal constituencies
• Participate in cross-functional team projects
• Education and Experience:
o Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline required
o At least two years of experience with database management systems and data analysis
• Technical Skills:
• Problem-solving and critical thinking skills:
o Excellent computer skills including MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Tableau
o Experience with reporting/querying tools including Business Objects
o Experience working with large datasets and a working knowledge of SPSS
o Strong attention to detail
o Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and solve data analysis problems
o Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
o Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously and follow through all phases to completion
• Strong interpersonal skills:
o Ability to succeed in a fast paced environment
o Ability to apply tact and good judgment in dealing with all levels of university staff, administrators, and faculty
o Discretion in handling confidential information
Master’s degree preferred
o Experience working in a college/university setting is desired but not required
o Experience with the Datatel Colleague ERP system is desired but not required
Prior Institutional Research Experience preferred
