Job Duties

The Associate Director of Institutional Research supports the Office of Institutional Effectiveness in capturing, analyzing, and interpreting data for university decision-making. Reporting to the Director of Institutional Research, the Associate Director will serve as the office’s analytics specialist and advance the university’s ability to turn information into insight. The Associate Director will work proactively with the team and colleagues throughout the University to determine information needs, develop clear research objectives and questions, collect and refine data, produce descriptive and inferential analyses, synthesize and present findings, and develop data solutions to ensure that stakeholders have the information they need. The position will also participate in the office's broader responsibilities, including data governance, ad-hoc reporting, external reporting requirements, and documentation of work product.

Job Qualifications

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in a research-related field, such as computer science, data analytics, statistics, mathematics, higher education, social sciences, or related field and four years of progressive experience in the institutional research environment OR a master's degree and at least two years of experience directly related to the duties specified, preferably in a higher education environment is required.  The successful candidate must have experience using Excel and data visualization software (i.e., Power BI, Tableau).

Candidates with a Ph.D. in a related field and/or demonstrated proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research methodology, PowerBI, programming/scripting languages (i.e., MSSQL) and statistical software (i.e., SPSS or R); ability to identify trends of significance to university decision-makers; ability to manage and analyze large datasets; skill in writing analytical and technical reports and presenting complex technical/analytical concepts and information to a wide range of audiences; familiarity with diverse data analytics tools; ability to manage time and resources to respond to competing priorities and ensure timely, accurate deliverables; willingness to expand professional and technical skills are highly desirable.
