Job Duties

  • Establish procedures for responding to institutional data request and surveys
  • Assist with responding to internal and external institutional data requests for student enrollment, data uploads (i.e. GICA, NSF, etc.), and surveys requests (i.e. U.S. News + World Report, College Board, etc.)
  • Collaborate with university data stewards and the Office of Information Technology to ensure institutional data is accurate, consistent and scrubbed in preparation for data collection and reporting
  • Assist with compiling the following mandatory datasets: student enrollment, financial aid, housing, completers, athletics, faculty class loads, alumni, employees, etc.
  • Assist with maintaining the Institutional Research database and some university wide databases
  • Collects, reviews, and organize data tables for inclusion in the Clark Atlanta University Trend Book 
  • Assist with publishing institutional data to the university website
  • Assist in the development of survey templates, questionnaires, and instruments necessary to meet institutional survey collection
  • Collaborates with university systems (Banner, ARGOS) users and subject matter experts to develop data tables, create or update data reports, and suggest data solutions 
  • Develops Key Performance Indicators (KPI) data structures, report templates and end-user training and demonstration to translate departmental data needs into dashboard and reporting template(s)
  • Assist users in testing and customizing on all elements (templates, charts and graphics, etc.) of presentation design and integrating specific dashboard analytics reporting for continuous improvements into the presentations
  • Manage and support institutional business intelligence dashboards
  • Assists units with Institutional Dashboard training, workshops, retreats and special events.
  • Serve as co-chair for the university Data Steward and Governance Committee
  • Assist with impromptu ad hoc large data requests from campus units

Job Qualifications

Qualifications:
  • Demonstrate ability to maintain confidentiality and prudence with handling confidential information at all times 
  • Mastery level ability with collecting, analyzing, and interpreting large datasets
  • Experience with compliance in Federal reporting requirements
  • Knowledge of Banner or similar information system
  • Demonstrates ability to use Microsoft Excel for presentations, analysis, reporting and training (e.g. build and utilize formulas, pivot tables, macros, etc.)
  • Experience working directly with administrators, faculty, and staff 
  • Experience with data visualization tools (motion graphics and/or info-graphics) 
  • Ability to interpret university policies and university stakeholders needs relating to institutional data
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Above average organizational skills
  • Takes initiative and ownership of assigned task with the ability to work independently
  • Willingness to serve in leadership capacity
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Proven experience in meeting deadlines
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once
  • Commitment to the mission and vision of the Office of Planning, Assessment, and Institutional Research

Education and other:
  • Bachelor’s degree is required from a regionally accredited institution in a discipline with intensive use of data, information technology, or statistical analysis
  • Experience in Institutional Research, Institutional Effectiveness, or Higher Education preferred.
  • Experience in Tableau, Argos, SNAP or Qualtrics appreciated.
