Job Duties

The college’s institutional effectiveness, strategic planning, accreditation, institutional research, and survey research activities are coordinated by the Center for College Effectiveness, which is seeking a Senior Institutional Research Data Analyst. Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Institutional Effectiveness and Strategic Planning in the Center for College Effectiveness the Senior Institutional Research Data Analyst will be responsible for, but not limited to the following duties:

  • Manage the annual college survey cycle by administering student, employee, and alumni surveys

  • Manage the design and administration of custom surveys

  • Conduct analysis of quantitative and qualitative data from survey ratings, survey comments, focus groups, and other sources of information

  • Summarize, interpret, and present qualitative and quantitative information in written reports and data tables/charts with clear and meaningful findings suitable for all levels of the college community, including senior administration, faculty, staff, and students

  • Collaborate with the Asst. Dean in reviewing annual institutional effectiveness/assessment profiles, providing feedback, and monitoring deadlines for each college unit

  • Collaborate with the Asst. Dean in preparing materials for presentations, workshops and professional development

  • Manage data collection and external reporting in compliance with the CUNY Performance Management Process, accreditation requirements, grant activities, and federal and state mandated reporting

Job Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and six years’ related experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with survey administration, survey design, and survey software (Qualtrics preferred)

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy of written reports; excellent proofreader

  • Ability to conduct qualitative analysis of survey comments and focus groups transcripts

  • Ability to summarize quantitative data in tables and charts

  • Familiarity with assessment/program evaluation practices

  • Ability to take direction, work independently, and/or work collaboratively, as situations require

  • Ability to meet deadlines, handle multiple assignments simultaneously, and be flexible with changing priorities

  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally to non-technical and technical audiences

  • Ability to think analytically

  • High level of technological expertise and motivation to keep up with new technologies

Institution Description

The Stella and Charles Guttman Community College is the City University of New York’s newest community college in 40 years. As an innovative institution, Guttman Community College requires flexibility and a broad range of skills and competencies from candidates in every position. Located in midtown Manhattan, Guttman was established with the goal of significantly improving student learning, retention and graduation, by rethinking community college education and practice. Guttman Community College is a federally-designated Hispanic Serving Institution with a culturally diverse student body drawn from across New York City.

Most of our students enroll directly out of high school. Guttman currently offers five majors/pathways: business administration, information technology, human services, liberal arts and sciences, and urban studies, and will offer additional programs in the future. The College admitted its first cohort of 300 students in August 2012 and has established a goal of 5,000 students, in the coming years.
