Research Data Analyst II

Job Duties

  1. Accreditation & Compliance Reporting – Develops queries, maintains internal databases, and submits reports to support annual accreditation and compliance reporting (ASPPH, CEPH) and SPH’s ongoing accreditation (CEPH)
  2. Assessment and Academic Program Review Planning & Reporting Support – Assist activities that support annual assessment planning and reporting and academic program review; independently develops research initiatives and conducts analyses to understand student competency attainment and the success of educational activities throughout SPH academic programs
  3. Survey Research & Evaluation – Designs, conducts, analyzes, and develops reports of student, alumni, and faculty surveys and focus groups needed for accreditation, assessment, and evaluation; identifies additional opportunities to obtain critical feedback from stakeholders for continuous improvement efforts
  4. Technical and Program Activities – Serves as a technical resource for data management and reporting; attends committees and team meetings associated with data activities; participates on cross-functional teams as an SPH representative
  5. Documentation Development & Maintenance – Responsible for developing and updating data-related documentation associated with accreditation, assessment, and evaluation

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, social sciences, psychology, statistics, public health, or related field, and four years’ relevant experience, OR Master’s degree in education, social sciences, psychology, statistics, public health, or related field, and two years’ relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in applied social science or education research, including research methodology and program evaluation
  • Quantitative and qualitative data set development, management, analysis, and reporting
  • Web-based survey research and design
  • Professional written and oral communication products suitable for various audiences (program directors, faculty, students, SPH leadership)
  • Strong quantitative reasoning skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience using the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with public health programs; manipulating, mining, and analyzing complex data sets; survey software applications (Qualtrics, Survey Monkey, Xitracs)
  • Demonstrated experience with statistical packages (R, SAS, or SPSS), programming language (SQL), relational databases (Banner) and data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI)
  • May require human researcher training and compliance for activities that generate scholarly publications

Institution Description

The OHSU-PSU School of Public Health is a joint-school between Oregon Health & Science University and Portland State University and is specially accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH). The School offers two BS/BA programs, six MS/MPH programs, and three PhD, enrolls about 1,400 students and employs about 50 primary instructional faculty.
