This new position in the Office of Institutional Research will use both analytical and leadership skills to develop and support strategies for FSU’s ongoing efforts to grow and improve in key metrics and indicators. Key responsibilities include:
Responsible for planning, administering, reviewing, and evaluating activities of the Metrics Strategies program in Institutional Research. Responsible for program design and the development and implementation of goals, objectives, data policies, and research procedures related to the Metrics Strategies program.
Directs program activities within Institutional Research related to the analysis, visualization, and predictive modeling of university metrics and national/international rankings indicators. Supervises staff as needed in the execution of program objectives. Leads efforts to review operational definitions and reporting procedures for key metrics and rankings indicators. Provides data and interpretation to guide the University in achieving its strategic goals. Requires the use of database management, analytics, and inferential statistics as well as close coordination with campus program directors and data custodians.
Directs program activities within Institutional Research and partners with subject matter experts on campus units to identify tactics, short-term goals, and resource allocations required for improvement in key metrics as well as national and international rankings. Communicates with stakeholders; coordinates efforts to formulate, document, and track activities related to the realization of strategic goals; and manages the production of key deliverables for metrics workgroups and taskforces established by University leadership.
Utilizes considerable discretion and judgment to initiate, conceptualize, execute, and deliver analytic and data reporting support informing administration of issues and areas of consideration for decision making. Serves as a primary representative for Institutional Research by providing decision support in various strategic planning and national/international rankings workgroups and committees.
Bachelor's degree and six years of professional experience or a high school diploma or equivalent and ten years of experience (Note: or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to ten years)
Strong communication skills, ability to work well with others, adaptability, excellent work ethics and professionalism.
Experience in data preparation and management, conducting data analysis and preparing reports for public consumption.
Master's or Doctoral degree in higher education, statistics, econometrics, social sciences, or research sciences with training in quantitative methods.
Experience in supervising one or more employees.
Experience in Microsoft Excel data analysis as well as one or more statistics platforms (SAS, SPSS, R, Stata, etc.).
Experience in data visualization platforms such as Microsoft Power BI or Tableau.
Familiarity with Florida State University's structure, organization, goals, and culture.
