Job Duties


Reporting to the Director for Institutional Research, the Assistant Director is responsible for managing data and analytical projects to support university compliance, accreditation and strategic decision making.


  • Oversees critical data and information processes, such as the faculty credentialing process and the process integrating the Human Resource information systems and the Banner student information systems. Effectively addresses data governance issues
  • Automates the process to prepare data for reporting and strategic analysis.

  • Oversees data extraction, compilation, coding and analysis from multiple information systems. Reviews and validates critical data and information for submission to the State and the Federal government, the Clemson Board of Trustees, SACSCOC and other agencies such as the US News and World Report

  • Directs/designs statistical analysis to support strategic decision making. Creates data visualizations to present statistical information to campus constituents

  • Facilitates continuous improvement processes to enhance IR services.  Manages the IR Ad-hoc request system, creates a work-flow, ensures that appropriate review and validation are in place and deadlines are met.

  • Manages the IR website and coordinates information update. Serves as IR contact/representative for new ERP system integration and forthcoming University meta-data management integration and processes.

  • Serves as the primary point of contacts for external benchmarking surveys and data exchanges. Manages, reviews and validates data submissions. Develops analytic products to summarize findings and communicates insights to inform University strategic planning and operations.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications


Education -  Bachelor's Degree and relevant program experience.


  • Master’s or a PhD degree in a field directly related to data and analytics, quantitative research, or management.

  • Proficiency with data retrieval using tools such as ACCESS or SQL.

  • Experience designing, maintaining and publishing data dashboard tools; especially Tableau.

  • Proven excellence in project management.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with statistical software products such as SPSS, SAS, R or Python.

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.

  • Progressively responsible professional/administrative experience, in a field related to Institutional Research or Institutional Effectiveness; with 2 years in a managerial role.
