Job Duties

• Provide leadership, vision, & project management for the Office of IE
• Responsible for leading & coordinating ongoing institutional assessment of academic & non-academic programs using WASC standards
• Stay current in best practices in assessment, WASC standards & DEI
• Work with the Associate Dean, DEI and other campus constituencies to embed equity & inclusion outcomes in all assessment processes
• Engage in ongoing data collection and analysis of key institutional processes
• With the Associate Dean of Faculty, provide data to the President & Senior Staff on academic facilities and curriculum
• Present data to the Whittier College community in jargon-free language
• Perform other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications

Minimum Master’s Degree: education, research & evaluation, data analytics, or other field appropriate to the position
• Demonstrated vision in using data analytics to support institutional effectiveness
• At least five years related college-level experience in institutional effectiveness, assessment, & accreditation
• Experience in accreditation self-study process & WASC accreditation
• Experience analyzing & evaluating educational data on equity & inclusion
• Handle confidential and sensitive information with integrity & discretion
• Data analysis & visualization software experience and proficiency with Excel, Access / Argos.
• Pull data from Ellucian/Banner
• Collaborative leader who engages College in effective & comprehensive assessment activities

Institution Description

Director of Institutional Effectiveness (IE)

The Director of IE leads & coordinates a comprehensive program of external & internal reporting & analysis, survey administration, and project management in support of institutional assessment, planning & decision making. The Director of IE supports the strategic imperative of the College to focus on equity & inclusion to improve student outcomes. Reporting to the Vice President, Academic Affairs & Dean of Faculty, the Director collaborates with offices across campus to spearhead data collection & analysis to address institutional priorities, inform curricular & program development, assess institutional performance, and improve institutional outcomes. This Office presents data analysis through various means—including visualization—to the college community to support data-driven decision making & institutional planning.
• The office is responsible for:
• assessment of institutional effectiveness, including assessment of academic & non-academic programs & offices, WASC accreditation, & other evaluations as needed
• coordinating IPEDS reporting, National Surveys (HEDS, NSSE, NACCC, etc.) -- primarily the responsibility of the Associate Director
• the Factbook/Dashboard: work with Academic Affairs on data collection and the President’s office on presentation
• The office:
• works with Associate Dean DEI and others to generate & analyze high quality data to evaluate equity/inclusion in all areas of the institution
• will establish an IR data bank, coordinate this task with the Associate Dean of Faculty and other academic deans
• provides support to Finance and Academic Affairs in developing accurate & comprehensive enrollment & retention models for institutional decision-making, including residential occupancy, study away & other important components
• collaborates with the VPAA and Associate Deans to generate & analyze data; and build models to support academic planning
• generates in-house surveys & data analysis

Salary Range: $95,000-$100,000 (commensurate with experience & skills)
