This position will have a focus on the Center for Career Exploration & Success (CCES). This position will assist in the creation and execution of a data assessment strategic plan, and will help determine the data to monitor and interpret for the purpose of advancing a strategy for decision-making in CCES. In addition, the person who holds this position
will create reports and assessment methods based on goals for the Career Center.
This position is approved for remote work on a hybrid basis. Remote work is not a right, but a working arrangement that can be modified or revoked by Miami university at any time for any reason.
Responsibilities: Oversee and manage predictive analytics platforms and leverage relevant institutional student performance data and national best-practice research to guide the development, oversight, and continual evolution of increasing student success for all students
Support predictive analytics efforts to utilize the existing platforms to statistically analyze the impact of University-wide student success initiatives.
Supports strategic plan through the estimation, modeling, and analysis that is used to inform decisions. Provide independent leadership on collaborative projects and interactions with the division and campus partners. Serve as a member of university-wide committees and teams focused on enrollment management planning and initiatives, specifically related to CCES. Serve on data, research, and IT-related campus and system-wide committees. Meet with department heads, managers, supervisors, vendors, students, staff, faculty, and others to solicit cooperation and problem solve. Work with campus partners and external vendors to ensure data integrity across units and within various systems. Create departmental plans, calendars, and priorities for deep dives into research topics important to EMSS, specifically related to CCES.
Deliver timely, accurate, and relevant data and technologies regarding the recruitment, enrollment, and retention of students that allows the University to achieve its strategic goals and initiatives. Provide data administration expertise. Prioritize and fulfill ad hoc data requests. Work closely with EMSS offices for quality control on reports. Ensure the necessary reports and reporting tools are available to key audiences to inform decisions related to undergraduate admissions, registration, scholarships and financial aid, and student service functions provided by the Division.
Learn new software as needed and stay current with data analytic tools and development.

Bachelor’s Degree and two years of experience in data analytics or in a field related to data analytics, or a Master’s Degree in a field related to data analytics

Ability to generate reports, projections, and predictive models and recommend goals and strategies. Ability to analyze and forecast trends. Willingness to adapt to new and changing national technology trends is necessary. The candidate will also have the ability to meet critical deadlines, effectively collaborate with campus personnel, and have outstanding organizational and project management skills. Able to provide proactive and student-focused solutions to complex operational challenges
This position is available to persons who are currently located and authorized to work in the United States on a full-time and indefinite basis. (Persons authorized to work on such a basis include US citizens, lawful permanent residents (“green card” holders), asylees, refugees, and temporary residents under IRCA).

Experience working in higher education.
Demonstrated experience in SQL.
Experience in Tableau, Ellucian’s Banner SIS and SQL developer.
Demonstrated experience in developing and updating useful and accurate enrollment or customer acquisition prediction models using multiple sources of data.
Experience using national databases, e.g. census data or IPEDS.
Strong background in mathematics, statistics or other quantitative field.
Ability to discover underlying trends in data and make suggestions for possible actions.
