Job Duties

Cleveland Institute of Art invites applications for the position of Registrar.  The Registrar provides dynamic and strategic leadership in Academic operations by effectively managing the maintenance and integrity of all student academic records, curriculum management, the creation and maintenance of course schedules, all areas of student registration and the recording and reporting of grades, graduation, compliance with FERPA regulations, international students/SEVIS procedures, and the establishment and maintenance of processes for the equitable and consistent administration of policies and procedures as they relate to registration and academic record keeping.
 
In this role the Registrar will manage the registration process for all students, provide record-keeping and statistical reports on student enrollment, grades, retention, attrition, demographic profiles, degree completion, faculty loads and more.   Provides FERPA training as needed as part of new faculty/staff orientation. Serves as the School Certifying Official (SCO) for the Dept. of Veterans Affairs and works with other CIA representatives (Financial Aid, Business Affairs, Enrollment/Admissions, Marketing, etc.) to ensure institutional compliance. In partnership with OAA, manages College Catalog updates to courses and degree requirements.  Determines the general academic calendar in consultation with other CIA managers, for final approval by the Cabinet. Manages managerial and fiscal operations of the Registrar's office, including preparation of the annual budget and payment authorizations for invoices.  Supervises and evaluates administrative staff in the Registrar's office.

Job Qualifications

The successful candidate will have demonstrated skills in organization, time management and staff supervision. As well as a minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in the manager of registrar and/or academic operations and a bachelors degree; masters preferred.  A thorough understanding of Student Information Systems (Jenzabar data management system preferred), including but not limited to maintenance of data integrity and report development.  Understanding of the structure, interdependencies, and current management practices within higher education. Knowledge of the requirements of internal and external organizations for data management and evaluation purposes. Experience in working with the reporting requirements of the National Student Clearinghouse and Department of Veterans' Affairs.
