Job Duties

Bethany College seeks qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Dean for Institutional Research. This position reports to the Provost and works collaboratively with the Associate Provost for Accreditation. A successful candidate must possess a positive demeanor with strong interpersonal, organizational and decision-making skills. We are looking for a professional who can gather, organize, and communicate data to offices across our campus and who can assist in translating shared data for the purpose of developing effective strategic actions. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Filing all IPEDS, the National Student Clearinghouse, and other government data compliance, reports, and annual surveys by external entities.
  • Prepare annual updates of data sets that cover student enrollment, graduates by major and post-baccalaureate destinations, faculty workload, and other similar variable annual data sets.
  • Manage our membership in the Higher Education Data Sharing System (HEDS) and administer and interpret survey research.
  • Provide the President, Provost and the President's Cabinet with requested information
  • Develop and implement data collection and analysis strategies for a wide variety of campus constituents,
  • Disseminate information to internal and external constituents, and bear primary responsibility for compliance with state, federal, accrediting body and other critical accountability mandates.
  • Assist faculty, staff, and administration in developing data collection strategies, help in the evaluation and analysis of data, and meet the data needs of all constituents.
  • Serve as primary contact for persistence and completion initiatives at the College.
  • Serve as liaison for the Learning Outcomes Committee and other committees with data collection and analysis for accreditation
  • Reports weekly to the Provost
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

  • Proficiency in using Ellucian Colleague, a database application, a statistical software platform, and other software to efficiently analyze and present quantitative and qualitative data to a variety of internal and external constituencies
  • Ability to design, plan, implement, and evaluate surveys on a variety of platforms and for a variety of consumers
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and present data in a comprehensible format aligned for the intended audience
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Broad knowledge of higher education issues.
  • Commitment to accuracy, clarity, promptness, reliability and creativity.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in both written and oral reports.
  • Ability to work effectively with teams.
  • Ability to develop and interpret policy.

Job Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field. However, Master's degree is preferred.
  • 3-5 years' experience of increasing responsibility in higher education.
  • Experience with Ellucian Colleague or related software systems.
