Position Objective:

The Research Analyst develops, designs and manages research studies including collecting, compiling and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data; composing research reports and white papers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Designs, develops and conducts surveys, special studies and long-term projects for the International Foundation on assigned topics directly affecting the effectiveness of employee benefit plan practices and the economic and social welfare of plan participants. 
  • May lead some research projects, as assigned, commensurate with the incumbent’s level of professional experience.
  • Independently conducts survey/research work and projects including questionnaire design, implementation, and sampling design. Applies independent judgement to decisions related to sample statistical weighting, database set-up, data analysis and other specialized research activities.
  • Prepares research reports, white papers, articles and blog posts while ensuring completion of projects by established deadlines. 
  • Collaborates with the public relations, marketing, and membership services teams to ensure delivery and promotion of survey results to our members, to the media, and to others in the benefits industry. 
  • Coordinates research projects including scheduling, recordkeeping and internal communications.
  • Works collaboratively with membership experience teams to analyze the Foundation’s membership and potential markets. 
  • Queries organizational and membership data to develop reports and conduct analysis. 
  • Contributes to focus group and other market research strategies.  
  • Demonstrates interest in staying informed and up-to-date on benefits, benefits laws and regulations, and benefits plan administration.

Job Qualifications

Required Education/ Experience:

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree or at least three (3) years of experience as a contributing member of a research team is required. Preferred areas of study include a program that has a strong focus on research, data collection and statistical analysis in the social sciences, political science, industrial relations, public policy, economics, actuarial science, human resources, or business analytics. 

A solid understanding of statistics and quantitative and qualitative research methodologies is critical, demonstrated through educational courses or professional experience. The ability to design, develop and articulate research results in oral and written form is required.

Experience with a survey software program such as Alchemer or Survey Monkey preferred. Experience with Excel, SPSS and/or other data analysis software is required. Fundamental understanding of employee benefit concepts is strongly preferred; but will train the right candidate. Able to take complex data points and present a cohesive, understandable analysis in various presentation formats. 

Minimum Qualifications:     

This position requires strong attention to detail, resourcefulness and excellent analytical skills. The ability to coordinate multiple projects effectively and professionally for on-time delivery is essential for success in the role. This person must be able to problem-solve and re-prioritize work as priorities shift. The incumbent must demonstrate a willingness and ability to learn new technologies quickly. This position requires strong verbal communication skills, and exceptional written communication skills to support member-facing surveys, reports and publications. This individual will be expected to achieve the Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) designation within a reasonable period of time. 



This position will require that the individual may travel up to 10% of the time, domestically and internationally. When not traveling, the individual must be able to work in a normal/typical office environment at least 60% of the time.

New hires are expected to be fully onsite during the training period. Then, once fully trained, the Foundation operates on a 60/40 Hybrid schedule; with 60% being onsite at our headquarters in Brookfield (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays); and up-to 40% being remote (Mondays and Fridays) as business needs allow.
