Job Duties
Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Query, validate and manipulate data from enterprise systems and warehouse environments using analytics languages/tools such as SQL, R, Python, SAS, or SPSS.
- Analyze data employing statistical and analytical methodologies. Interpret the findings into summary reports and/or interactive dashboard to support institutional decision-making.
- Support in the implementation and maintenance of cloud-based data warehouse, including data preparation, reporting solution and PowerBI dashboard development.
- Assist with academic assessment programs and institutional effectiveness projects (admissions, enrollment, student affairs, financial aid, course evaluation, etc.).
- Maintain comprehensive procedural documentation and data reporting protocols to ensure accurate and appropriate data is available to meet the University's needs.
- Contribute to ongoing data governance process. Promote and ensure data integrity and consistency across multiple data domains and reporting contexts within the University.
- Identify data needs, review business requirements, and work to resolve issues and processes as needed.
- Perform other job related duties as required.
Job Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, statistics, or related discipline and two years of job-related experience required. An equivalent combination of education and work will be considered.
- Familiarity with higher education structures/processes and data flow (admissions, enrollment, student affairs, accreditation, course management, etc.).
- Strong understanding about relational databases and SQL. Effectively utilize SQL querying in ERP and data warehouse environment. Preference given to candidates with Snowflake querying experience.
- Proficiency in processing large data set using advanced Excel features including functions, formulas and pivot table.
- Strong analytical and logical thinking skills, particularly regarding data quality assurance, procedural documentation, and process improvement
- Experience in creating/maintaining /publishing dashboards using PowerBI, Tableau or other business intelligence tools.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, particularly about understanding data demand and interpreting statistical analyses to audience with various backgrounds.
- Strong attention to detail and proofreading skills involving data and documentation.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to build cooperative working relationship throughout the university.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of state and federal compliance reporting requirements and standards for higher education.
- Ability to program using any of the following languages: R, Python, SAS.
- Ability to plan, create, program, and manage computer databases across multiple operating system platforms/environments.
