Job Duties

The Director of Data and Assessment (DDA) provides data analysis, research and assessment for a broad range of projects including, but not limited to, student data in areas related to retention and graduation analysis and projections, initiative and program assessment and evaluation, data quality assurance, trend analysis, market analysis, return on investment, and student success. This position frequently presents results and analysis in-person and via written reports to executive-level administrators at the university. The position reports to the Assistant Vice Provost for Strategic Initiatives and Administration. The DDA is responsible for gathering, assessing, analyzing and reporting data to provide recommendations leading to the achievement of the division’s strategic goals. The position works closely with all units and programs within the UESS division and various partners across UO campus. This position requires work with sensitive material, often of a confidential nature, directly related to retention, student academic performance, degree progress and demographic information. They must be able to lead projects of high scope and complexity, and exercise independent judgment to accept, manage, and prioritize projects from all units and programs. The work of this position directly influences operations, staffing levels, policy decisions, and other aspects of the division’s strategic path.

Job Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
• Master’s degree, with documented course work in research methods and statistical analysis or equivalent experience
• Five (5) years of experience in equity-minded research design, data collection and analysis, and management reporting that includes the following: • Experience using data and statistical analysis to support student success efforts in a university or similar environment
• Experience in quantitative and qualitative educational research design.
• Experience with a statistical package (such as R, SAS, SPSS, STATA).
• Experience with data visualization
• Experience explaining assessment and research design to multiple audiences, including excellent presentation skills.
• Experience with complex relational data sets including manipulating, merging, restructuring, and analyzing data.
