Job Duties
The Analyst 2-Research position (two positions are available) is responsible for performing comprehensive, detailed statistical and data analysis work leveraging the College’s business intelligence system and statistical software including R or Python. Specific activities involve developing descriptive statistical reports and constructing predictive models related to enrollment, student success and other areas of Pima operations, in support of the mission of the College. The central role of the position is statistical analysis work along with design and development of ad hoc processes to provide timely responses to requests for data from various units. The position responsibilities also include survey administration, business intelligence report design, assisting with mandated reporting, designing data visualizations and supporting the Strategy, Analytics and Research (StAR) team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Using inferential and descriptive statistical techniques to retrieve, analyze, and report aggregate student and course data and statistics, institutional effectiveness data and statistics, and support program and services review
- Developing and writing data-based statistical reports related to enrollment, student characteristics, course grades, occupational programs, course characteristics, and related information, including the ability to provide context information to support interpretation of the results
- Design and develop ad hoc processes to provide timely responses to requests for data from various units
- Assisting in preparing federal and state mandated reports
- Proposing and carrying out research applied to institutional research data
- Conducting research and analyzing data to support College goals
- Conducts college-wide surveys and assist in course evaluations
- Providing input and serving as a resource for the development and dissemination of results in response to research project requests
- Using written and oral skills to present data to administrators, standing committees, and other appropriate College employees
- Responding to inquiries from College departments, students, and the public related to enrollment statistics, graduation rates, and related institutional information
Job Qualifications
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and
- One to three years of related experience with applicable computer programs and
- One to three years of related experience with Research and Statistical Methodology and
- Experience with SQL, MS Access or other querying softwares and
- Experience with survey tools (e.g. Qualtrics, Survey Monkey) and
- Experience with R, Python or other statistical software/programming language
or
- Candidates who possess similar minimum qualifications are encouraged to apply and should describe in detail the work experience and education you regard as establishing the equivalency
Preferred:
- Master's degree
- Experience with enterprise reporting platforms (e.g., Banner)
The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
- High level of familiarity with data analysis methods, including research design and statistical analysis principles including inferential and descriptive statistics
- Experience working with large, complex relational databases using SQL and MS Access
- Demonstrated ability to communicate analysis results
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing, including the development of reports and statistical summaries for diverse audiences
- Ability to be flexible and comfortable working in a dynamic work environment which requires staff to handle multiple projects on tight timelines
- Experience with applicable computer programs and software applications
- Strong customer service skills
- Strong team skills
- Knowledge of project management principles
