Job Duties

The Division for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is seeking an Assistant Director for Assessment and Data Analytics to join our dedicated and passionate team at the University of Virginia.  The professional in this position will be focused on assessment and data analytics that support our evidence-based strategy for transformative change at UVA. We are seeking an individual with demonstrated knowledge and skills in equity-minded and participatory research design, analysis, and decision-making. The Assistant Director will join a growing team, and equity-focused community, as we seek to institutionalize the Inclusive Excellence framework at UVA alongside our affiliated organizations and community partners.

The Assistant Director will work closely with representatives from the Office of Institutional Research & Analytics, the Vice President for Enrollment Management, University Human Resources, University Diversity Council, the Center for Teaching Excellence as well as the Academic Deans and Directors for Diversity and Inclusion and Inclusive Excellence planning and implementation teams from across the University. Knowledge of higher education governance structures and ecologies, complex statistical procedures and software, qualitative analysis software and analysis, organizational theories of change, survey design, participatory research, and/or equity-minded research design will be valuable.

As part of the Division’s community partnership efforts, the Assistant Director will also work with Charlottesville-Albemarle area organizations who receive Inclusive Excellence planning awards and seek to develop assessment plans and accountability metrics around the Inclusive Excellence framework. Work in this area will include a range of potential partnerships with community organizations and with the University’s Equity Center staff as we seek to serve as a place-based anchor institution. Demonstrated ability or potential for building and sustaining strong working relationships on the foundation of trust will be important for the role.

Job Qualifications

The Assistant Director will be knowledgeable in the principles of and have a passion for equity and inclusion as well as qualitative and quantitative assessment and data stewardship; demonstrate effective data management and visualization skills; possess a passion for transparency and institutional accountability through data; exhibit the capacity to expand and engage a community for data-informed practice; and engage a proactive service orientation to meeting the evaluation needs of a public institution seeking to serve as a public good.

A qualified candidate must have at least a master’s degree. Candidates from a range of backgrounds in the social sciences, mathematics, statistics, education, computer science, or any other fields which include data visualization, assessment, and analysis will be considered.
