Job Duties

Job Summary

Serves as a senior research analyst and the census data reporting officer for Clemson University, researches and develops information systems for compliance reporting, strategic benchmarking and decision making. Conducts complex research and statistical analysis. Provides information to internal and external stakeholders. Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Duties

·         Serves as Clemson University’s census data reporting officer for State mandated reporting known as South Carolina Commission on Higher Education Information Systems (CHEMIS). Develops information systems and prepares census data related to students, courses, instructors, facilities and financial aid. Manages the whole process from data query/extraction/coding, report preparation, data validation to final submissions.

·         Proactively works with other departments to fix data problems in the information systems and ensure quality, integrity, accuracy of CHEMIS data. Appropriately archives CHEMIS data for reporting, analysis and benchmarking.     

·         Applies advanced statistics and quantitative research methods to develop metrics and build exploratory, explanatory, and predictive models that inform strategic and operational planning at the University. Uses visualization tools to summarize and present findings to internal and external constituents.

·         Consults with internal and external constituencies regarding their information needs. Extracts data from multiple information systems and creates reports/data visualizations to present information.

·         Assists with data governance projects such as development of data dictionary, standardizing data coding and data definitions. Assists the members of the institutional community understand data and utilize it to make changes as needed.

·         Completes benchmarking surveys, such as the NSF Graduate Student Survey, peer exchange and benchmarking surveys and other public relations surveys.

Job Qualifications

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and 3-5 years’ relevant work experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Technology or a field directly related to a quantitative discipline.
  • Proficiency with data retrieval using tools such as ACCESS or SQL.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with statistical software products such as SPSS, SAS, R or Python.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
  • Proven records of dedication to data accuracy and integrity, attention to details.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and activities independently.
