Tips for Webinar Attendees:
Technical System Requirements:

For optimal viewing experience be sure you are using a computer with at least a 166Mhz Pentium processor, 128MB of RAM, Microsoft NT, ME, XP or 2000 OS, at least a 56k Internet connection, Internet Explorer 5.x or higher or Netscape 4.5-4.8, and a pixel resolution of at least 800 x 600 (1024 x 768 reccomended).

Browser Compatibility:

Before you try logging on the Webinar, please go to: http://main.placeware.com/support/browser_check.cfm to see if your system will work with Web Place. If you need to download additional scripts - do it now.

Common Technical Problems:
  • A). The firewalls and bandwidth shaping policies of some institutions restrict access to certain kinds of streaming media. If you meet the technical specifications in item #1 AND have confirmed your browser compatibility as indicated in item #2 and you still are unable to connect - contact your local IT Help Desk or Support Services for assistance.
  • B). If you are using a campus computer that has been locked down to prevent you from downloading scripts such as Active X or Java - contact your local IT Help Desk or Support Services for assistance.
  • C). If you are viewing the Webinar in a classroom setting be sure that you have access to a phone connected to an outside line.
Session Information

Information, including meeting identification number, password and phone number will be emailed to attendees 48 hours in advance of the meeting.

What to Expect During a Webinar:


Screen I. This is the login screen that appears when you enter the URL for the meeting. Note the box outlining the area where you enter your Name, Meeting ID and Password.


Screen II. This is a screen shot of the Webplace console. Note that no presentation slides have been uploaded for viewing yet as indicated by the large grey blank space. Also, take note of the area outlined in red. This is where you go to type in questions for the presenters.


Screen III. This picture shows the console with a presentation slide already uploaded. The left hand panels show the phone number, presentation slide list and participants list.


Screen IV. This is the same image as the previous illustration. Please note the featured highlighted by the red circle. This is where you can visually communicate with the presenter by changing your personal color from the default "everything is ok" green to, for example, "please slow down" red.
