Numbers Don’t Lie: eAIR is Truly the Members’ Newsletter

The electronic newsletter (eAIR) of the Association for Institutional Research often takes a holiday in December, which provides a perfect time to reflect on the year. The infographic below tells the story of eAIR in 2014 – its 27th year of publication.

eAIR was started by a member and adopted by the Board of Directors as an official AIR publication in 1987. That means it was first released over bitnet – before the invention of the World Wide Web. Wikipedia cites eAIR as one of the two oldest electronic newsletters still being published.

I am grateful for faithful readers and occasional ones as well! And we are most thankful for members who contribute as article authors, add comments to stories, or forward articles to other readers. Networking and education are the core ideals of our Association, and eAIR is one of the most important tools for making that happen all year ‘round. This is the members’ newsletter.

While numbers don’t tell the whole story (gasp!), they certainly demonstrate that with your help, we are able to create a valuable and engaging vehicle for informing and educating our readers.

From all of the Executive Office staff in Tallahassee, we wish you a wonderful holiday season and a happy and data-informed new year. We will see you back here in January as we begin the 28th year of eAIR.
