Institution descriptionThe Office of Budget and Planning that directly supports the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs is seeking an innovative thinker and intellectually curious Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst Senior/Intermediate to join our dynamic and fast-paced Institutional Research team.

This position will assist the University in making strategic, data-related decisions by transforming data into information through statistical analysis, verification, and visual, contextual reporting of university data in areas such as tuition, student enrollment and admissions, student outcomes, faculty and human resources, budget and finances. Through an understanding of university data and how its integration and analysis can inform decision-making, the BI Analyst Senior/Intermediate will analyze, interpret, and verify research results to assist in the development of policy recommendations. Must grasp the complexity of data management, have a strong understanding of databases and data analysis procedures, and data integration techniques. Assist in the management and administration of the design and development of data structures, standards of data use, data models, and audit techniques in partnership with data stewards. Participate in industry/knowledge reference groups and strategic assessment to identify current/emerging business issues/problems and contribute to defining high impact business intelligence solutions with a focus on the quantitative methods, modeling and analytical techniques. Participate in business process improvement discussions and provide advice on potential resolutions including gathering the support necessary for initiatives. Develop and present reports and definitions, graphs, dashboards, and portal interfaces appropriate for the audience.
QualificationsBachelor’s degree with proven experience in data analysis; extremely detail oriented with the ability to recognize and investigate data anomalies; ability to understand complex business processes and the inter-relatedness of data across an organization; competence in query language and working with complex data warehouses and data models; demonstrated ability to produce visualizations of data using a common software package; sound organizational skills and the ability to successfully multi-task in a dynamic, fast-paced environment; excellent communication and collaboration skills; competence in interpreting and representing numeric data; ability to write and speak clearly when communicating complex ideas and conclusions to leadership; demonstrated strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to coordinate and work effectively with numerous units and staff at various levels; proficiency and familiarity with modern database and information system technologies; strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Business Objects, etc.), databases (SQL, Microsoft Access, etc.).
