Institution descriptionOur Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio has an exciting opportunity for an experienced research professional who is interested in growing the university’s research and analytics capabilities. The director serves in a crucial role for the university, reporting to and working closely with the Associate Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness and Accreditation. The director also works closely with a wide range of stakeholders including the President and Provost. The new director will have the opportunity to shape the office as the university expands a traditional institutional research office into an office of analytics. The office has already begun small shifts toward analytics but is looking for the right individual who can take the office to the next level. The director also performs and oversees statistical analyses; presents findings; anticipates stakeholder needs; brings both a detail-oriented and a big picture perspective; and establishes a landscape for analytic growth.
This is an exciting time to join the university as it engages in a new strategic plan, has just built a $15 million residence hall, is constructing a new campus in Houston, TX, and has a growing national online presence. The new director will have a significant impact on managing current growth and directing new growth.

Job duties1. Completes internal and external requests for information while managing individual workflow and projects with shifting priorities and deadlines.
2. Utilizes programming languages to clean, transform, and store data; automate processes; and ultimately ensure wide data availability.
3. Leads efforts to improve enterprise-level data integrity and quality.
4. Implements, oversees, and ensures data quality within data warehouse and data visualizations
5. Serves as the primary liaison between the research and Information Technology groups.
6. Programs, develops, and maintains predictive analytic products and models to assist with data-driven decision making.
7. Oversees survey research projects, ensuring that appropriate applied research principles and project management tools are employed
8. Serves as a consultant for survey development and administration
9. Assists with university assessment efforts (unit-level planning, strategic planning, and overall institutional effectiveness).
10. Plays a central role in university accreditation, serves as a vital member of the university's accreditation team.
11. Establishes and maintains databases and data dictionaries
12. In conjunction with the AVP, establishes a vision and plan to implement analytics in multiple university areas.
13. Supervises staff
Qualifications1. Bachelor's degree with training in statistics, analytics, information technology, operations research, psychology, economics, or other quantitative social science/research related field. Graduate degree strongly preferred. Bachelor's degree candidates with a strong work history in a research or analytics field may be considered.
2. Five years relevant experience in applied statistics, survey research, data management, data analysis and/or project management required.
3. Two years of experience working with a statistical package and/or database query and reporting tools (such as SQL, SPSS, SAS, STATA, or R).
4. Preferred two years of direct experience working with data visualization software systems. (OLLU currently utilizes Tableau).
5. Preferred two years of working with an enterprise resource planning (or similar) system. OLLU utilizes Ellucian Colleague.
6. Preferred experience in a supervisory capacity.
