Whether you are new to institutional research or an experienced professional, AIR's A Holistic Approach to Institutional Research six-week online course is perfect for you. 

This course offers a venue for data professionals around the world to meet and navigate the ever-growing demands for data and information in the current higher education landscape. The diverse expertise and perspectives of the participants, paired with a curriculum designed with student success in mind, results in a rich learning experience. 

IR Leaders and Directors: This course will give your team a common vision and framework in which to consider their work. Many organizations build the course into their employee onboarding processes. 

Course Structure

Each week, participants meet for two hours of live presentations and engagement with the instructor and other participants through activities and breakout discussions on these topics: 

• Week 1: What does it mean to take a holistic approach to IR?
• Week 2: What does it mean to be an IR professional?
• Week 3: Why and how do we govern data?
• Week 4: How do we manage data and put it to use?
• Week 5: How do we support decision making and decision makers?
• Week 6: How do we contribute to data-informed cultures? 

The course content is hosted on a community AIR Hub site and includes discussion posts, follow-up activities, and recordings of the live sessions.
