Using the PDP to Understand Academic Momentum
Academic momentum—early achievements such as credit accumulation, persistence, and progress—is a strong predictor of long-term student success.
This workshop introduces participants to how the Postsecondary Data Partnership (PDP) dashboards can be used to explore academic momentum metrics. Participants will learn to identify students who are on track—or at risk—early in their academic journey, helping institutions intervene proactively.
This session is ideal for institutional researchers, student success leaders, enrollment managers, and advisors committed to strengthening retention and completion strategies through early action.
Learning Outcomes:
- Define academic momentum and its importance for student success
- Navigate PDP dashboards to access early momentum metrics
- Analyze patterns of credit accumulation, persistence, and early progress
- Identify student populations who may benefit from targeted interventions
- Use academic momentum data to inform institutional retention and completion strategies
