Improving and Transforming IR in Postsecondary Education

This initiative, funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, sought to better understand current IR capacity and help IR evolve to the next level of practice needed to address the future needs of higher education. Interrelated projects were designed to respond to the changing landscape of higher education and look for new ways to meet demand. This work, which took place between 2014 and 2016, documented the current state of IR through a National Survey of IR Offices and established a future-oriented vision of high-quality IR practices through the creation of Statement of Aspirational Practice for IR. A third, ongoing project involves the development of a self-assessment instrument for IR excellence at the institutional level.
