AIR Selects Executive Director Search Firm

  • by AIR

Tallahassee, Fla. – (September 18, 2016) – The Association for Institutional Research (AIR), announced today the selection of AGB Search to conduct the search for the next AIR Executive Director. Since the previous Executive Director’s tenure at AIR ended (December 2007 – January 2016), the Association has been under the leadership of Jason R. Lewis, Interim Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer.

In May 2016, the Board created an Executive Director Search Committee and approved a request for proposals (RFP) for an executive search firm. The committee launched the RFP in early June and accepted responses through July 5, 2016.

Twenty-four search firms responded to the RFP and underwent evaluation through use of a rubric. Five firms were selected for interview via video conference. The committee further narrowed the search to three firms upon completion of reference checks, and ultimately recommended the top candidate to the Board. The Board interview and subsequent vote resulted in the selection of AGB Search.

Glenn W. James, President of the AIR Board of Directors remarked, “We are very pleased to partner with AGB Search and lead consultant Ted Marchese. Along with his record in leading executive searches, Dr. Marchese has association management experience and considerable professional knowledge of higher education. His service in higher education has spanned a variety of positions, including roles in institutional research, planning, assessment, and related responsibilities. His understanding of what is needed for success in the role of executive director is a valuable strength for this very important search.”
