Amended AIR Policies Clarify Leadership Nominee Screening Criteria

  • by AIR

At their July 7 meeting, the Board of Directors approved updates to Governance Policies (GP) XIII: Board Committee Structure. The changes were proposed by an ad hoc committee assembled to review, in particular, the criteria which the Nominations and Elections Committee (NEC) uses to screen leadership nominees for candidate slating. The proposed changes were intended to clarify the qualifications required to serve in an AIR leadership role. The changes also better differentiate between those qualifications the NEC can and cannot readily assess per nominee (e.g., willingness to abide by the Carver Policy Governance model). The Board-approved updates will support the NEC’s efforts to assemble a well-qualified and diverse nominee pool.
