A Moment of Transition for IPEDS: Honoring RTI’s Service, Looking Ahead

Some in the Association for Institutional Research (AIR) community may not have seen that the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) contract was awarded to a new contractor—AEM Corporation—for the next contract cycle.

I want to take a moment to recognize and thank the RTI International staff and subcontractors for their many years of service to the higher education data community. RTI's team has supported IPEDS through operations, system development, community engagement, and the Help Desk services used by thousands of professionals across the field. That work has made a meaningful difference and deserves recognition.

For our part, AIR will continue to support the field with IPEDS-related training, practical resources, and a strong professional community. We remain committed to practitioners and to sound data reporting practices, and we look forward to working with the new contractor in support of high-quality IPEDS data and the institutions that report and use those data.

I am grateful to everyone who helps sustain and strengthen IPEDS, and I know many across our community will join me in recognizing the RTI team for their longstanding service.
