Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions Include

- Extract, clean, and analyze data from institutional systems (e.g., student information systems, learning management systems) to produce actionable insights.
- Use coding languages (e.g., R, Python, SQL) and tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau, Power BI) to create dashboards, reports, and visualizations.
- Collaborate with campus partners to define data needs, validate data sources, and resolve data issues.
- Translate complex data into clear, concise formats suitable for various audiences, including leadership, faculty, staff, and external agencies.
- Manage course and instructor evaluations.
- Assist in designing and administering surveys; analyze and report survey results.
- Engage in RTC and state-wide governance groups.
- Maintain data integrity and ensure compliance with FERPA and other privacy standards.
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
- Other related tasks as assigned.
Job Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated experience or participation with persons from diverse backgrounds such as sexual orientation, racial, ethnic, religious, linguistic, gender, age, socio-economic, physical and learning abilities, and a commitment to an inclusive and equitable working/learning environment.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, with coursework in social science, statistics/mathematics, research methods, computer science, business intelligence, or a related field.
- 1-2 years of relevant work experience with research or data.
- Exceptional analytical skills, with the ability to transform raw data into usable and informative information.
- Experience working with Excel, SQL, Python, Tableau or other data analytics software.
- Ability to prioritize projects and tasks independently and to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively with different members of the college including faculty, staff, and in some cases, students.
- Excellent oral/written communication skills, with the ability to write and present information in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and to abide by research ethics and principles.
- Knowledge of data equity or willingness to engage in data equity professional development after hire.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Working hours are generally aligned to business hours, Monday – Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work is required. Work is mostly sedentary in nature, performed in an office environment. Frequent use of a computer and exposure to terminal screens is required. Work and meetings may take place across campus. May drive/travel to trainings, conferences, and/or college events. This is mostly an in-person/on-campus position; remote work may occur as business permits.

This position supports evidence-based planning, decision-making, and reporting at the college by analyzing, visualizing, and interpreting data related to student success, institutional performance, and strategic initiatives. This role is responsible for collecting, cleaning, analyzing, and reporting quantitative and qualitative data in a highly collaborative capacity. A strong foundation in data analysis and coding skills (e.g., R, Python, SQL) is essential.
This position is a full-time, overtime eligible position within the Institutional Research & Effectiveness (IR) department, reporting directly to the Director of IR. This position is represented by the Renton Professional Technical Association (Prof-Tech) union at RTC. The salary range for this position is $73,822 - $92,698 annually. New hires may not be placed above step 10 ($88,782 annually).
