Job Duties

Key Responsibilities 

• Research and Analysis (85% of role)
: Conduct quantitative analysis on a variety of education policy issues in Georgia and across the United States.
: Apply advanced statistical and mathematical knowledge, with a clear understanding of model assumptions, diagnostics, and interpretation of results.
: Analyze large in-house and secondary datasets using statistical software (STATA preferred).
: Support program audits and evaluations of education policies and interventions. 
: Prepare and update technical guides and documentation for deliverables. 

• Policy Support and Communication (15% of role)

: Develop clear, concise, and well-researched policy briefs, memos, reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
: Create data visualizations and charts to effectively communicate research findings.
: Support senior staff in preparing reports and presentations for state stakeholders. 

Job Qualifications

• Education
: Bachelor's degree in economics, statistics, public policy, education, or related fields with a quantitative focus. : Master's degree preferred in the same fields.

 • Experience
: Two to four years of experience in quantitative research and data analysis. : Experience with statistical analysis and quantitative research methods. 

• Technical Skills
: Proficiency in statistical software (STATA preferred; R, Python, SAS, or SPSS acceptable)
: Strength in working with big in-house as well as secondary datasets.
: Demonstrated technical accuracy, data management skills, and thoroughness.

 • Core Competencies
: Strong quantitative and analytical skills. : Detail-oriented with commitment to data accuracy.
: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. : Ability to work independently and collaboratively. 

Institution Description

As Georgia's P-20 education agency, the Governor's Office of Student Achievement (GOSA) works to increase academic achievement and school completion across the state. The agency produces Georgia's education report card annually to provide transparent information for the state's Pre-K through college and career programs. GOSA also analyzes and shares trends in education and conducts audits for accountability purposes.
