Job Duties
Examples of work to be performed and essential functions include:
· Collects, prepares, and integrates various large and complex data sets to be utilized in various assessment scenarios.
· Analyzes and models data to identify trends, test hypotheses, formulate recommendations, and answer questions.
· Composes and assembles reports based on the analysis of various large and complex data sets to clearly articulate results and findings to multiple and diverse audiences.
· Design and develop institutional dashboards (e.g., enrollment, retention, graduation rates) using tools like Tableau/Power BI for campus leadership and external reporting.
· Work with large datasets from institutional data warehouses using advanced SQL to support strategic reporting.
· Design and build reporting tables and data models in a SaaS data warehouse environment to support consistent, repeatable institutional reporting.
· Automate data processes using tools like R/Python to reduce manual workload and increase efficiency.
· Provide training and support to colleagues and campus stakeholders on data tools and dashboards.
· Develop and maintain institutional data definitions, codebooks, and metadata documentation.
· Collaborate with campus offices (Admissions, Registrar, HR) to integrate data from multiple systems.
· Prepare technical documentation of data sources, transformations, and logic used in analyses.
· Prepares and disseminates various reports to the Mississippi Board of Trustees of Institutions of Higher Learning, the Federal Government, and the University administration.
· Identifies opportunities to enhance or develop data visualizations.
· Develops data visualizations in collaboration with campus partners to meet stakeholder needs.
· Provides historical research information for statistical studies and ad hoc requests.
· Collects, retrieves, organizes, analyzes, validates, and reports institutional data in various formats.
· Responds to time-critical ad-hoc requests.
· Coordinates the dissemination of compiled data reports and completion of surveys to campus, institutional, state, and federal agencies and constituencies.
· Coordinates and participates in assigned special and recurring projects to include planning, development, implementation, and evaluation.
· Performs related or similar duties as required or assigned.
Job Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications and Search Information
· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in social sciences, information technology, informatics, business, education, mathematics/statistics, or computer science or a related field.
· Six (6) years of experience related to the above described duties.
· Related experience may be substituted for education, on a basis set forth and approved by the Department of Human Resources.
The Office of Institutional Research, Effectiveness, & Planning anticipates that the senior data analyst will not be a fully remote position; however, the position will be eligible for a hybrid remote work arrangement. The incumbent will be expected to work from the office a minimum of three days per week and could be more frequently as needed.

The Office of Institutional Research, Effectiveness, and Planning (IREP) serves the University of Mississippi by providing institutional information to meet the decision-making, assessment, evaluation, reporting, accreditation, and planning needs of faculty, staff, academic, and administrative leaders. IREP also leads the institution’s compulsory and voluntary reporting requirements and fulfills data request from institutional stakeholders.
