Associate Director of IR

Job Duties
The Associate Director will have primary responsibility for coordinating IR work in support of external data requests (U.S. News, CDS, etc.) as measured by accurate and timely reporting to these entities. This role is also responsible for responding to external surveys and some data reporting requests (including extracting data from institutional databases for standard and ad hoc reporting, both internal and external). The AD will support academic departments with survey and data support during their decennial external reviews as measured by the department’s ability to supply their reviewers with substantive supporting data. Additionally, the AD will support academic departments in the annual assessment process as measured by the presentation of annual assessment findings. The AD will participate in annual work reviews.
The Associate Director may prepare quantitative and qualitative analyses and writing reports; be responsible for survey design, administration, analysis, and reporting; developing and conducting research studies in response to institutional needs; serving on and supporting committees on a variety of topics; promoting appropriate use of institutional and survey data to serve the broad needs of academic and non-academic units; assisting other College offices in institutional level planning and measurement; collaborating broadly across the institution to assist campus constituencies with application of data and research to address institutional concerns and questions; guiding the professional development of student interns; assist in supervising or supervising student interns; and working collaboratively on projects with colleagues within and outside the Institutional Research office including IR student interns.
Job Qualifications
We value experience and education. The candidate will have at least a bachelor’s degree in social science, educational assessment, or a related field or equivalent professional experience. A master’s degree in these fields, or equivalent experience, is preferred. The candidate will have a demonstrated ability to design and implement research studies of varying complexity, knowledge and proficiency in social science/education research methodology, both quantitative and qualitative, and experience in designing and conducting surveys and analyzing and presenting survey data. The candidate will have an interest and preferably some experience with intern professional development. The candidate will have excellent organizational, analytical, interpersonal, and writing skills, a high level of computer literacy, including at least one statistical software package (SAS, SPSS, Stata, R) and Microsoft Office products (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word).
The ideal candidate will have prior experience working in institutional research, education measurement, or assessment and demonstrate the ability to balance work on multiple tasks, manage competing priorities, complete assignments on time and with a high degree of quality, accuracy, and responsiveness, and take projects from start to finish with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will have some experience with online survey research tools and using SQL for querying databases.
