Job Duties

The Institutional Research and Assessment Analyst assists in the collection, organization, and analysis of institutional data, as well as providing support for the assessment of student learning outcomes. The person in this position will have an opportunity to work closely with staff on both the Assessment and Institutional Research sides of the Office of Institutional Research and
Assessment.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Institutional Research
● Assist in the collection and extraction of data from various institutional systems (e.g., student information systems, HR systems, financial systems).
● Assist in the preparation of data for external reporting requirements (e.g., IPEDS, state agencies) by compiling information and verifying accuracy.
● Support survey research activities by developing Qualtrics surveys, assisting with survey administration, and compiling and summarizing survey findings.
● Help maintain and update existing Power BI dashboards.
● Produce tables, graphs, and narrative analysis of data to summarize data such as enrollment, student retention and success measures, credit hour production, and faculty instructional activity.
● Provide support for updating and maintaining a faculty activity reporting data system.
● Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned.

Assessment
● Support the Assistant Director in providing individual assessment support to programs developing assessment plans and tools.
● Help academic programs develop program learning outcomes, curriculum maps and assessment plans.
● Assist in preparing summary reports and presentations that highlight assessment findings, programmatic strengths and weaknesses, and actionable recommendations for improvement.

Job Qualifications

Required
● Typically has the education associated with a Master’s Degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., assessment, statistics, educational research, business administration, public policy).
● One to two years of experience in university-wide data gathering and analysis
● Experience with data base management and analysis
● Experience with Excel/Google Sheets and statistical software packages (e.g., SPSS, SAS, R)
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred
● Experience with Qualtrics or similar survey administration tool
● Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or other business analytics tools
● Foundational knowledge of best practices in program and general education assessment
