Job Description:
Under the supervision of the assistant director for enterprise planning, the incumbent will build models, develop forecasts, and produce analyses that help university leaders, including the president of the university, make decisions concerning the ASU Public Enterprise. As part of these responsibilities, the planning analyst will also collaborate with operating units by providing technical assistance, guidance, and model development related to financial planning and analysis.
The emphasis of this work is on explaining financial impacts of decisions. The incumbent will be primarily responsible for developing financial models to support long-range planning and scenario analysis, conducting due diligence around new opportunities (e.g., partnerships, pilot programs), and providing decision support as university leaders consider possible investments.
Enterprise Planning is very interested in candidates who could help us become more productive and efficient through use of generative AI.

Essential Duties:
Design and develop models and forecasts that support programmatic and financial planning and decision-making.
Compiles, maintains, and validates quantitative and qualitative data from internal and external sources to support analyses and research projects.
Analyzes and interprets data and presents findings to various university audiences. Ascertains requirements of university leaders for further data or analysis.
Assists in identifying and research design, methods, and analytical techniques (including statistical procedures) for a wide range of projects.
Contributes to the development and maintenance of business analytics and business intelligence frameworks and tools.
Performs market research, involving assessments of market size, prices, and competitors; identification of opportunities; and evaluation of risks.
Prepares written technical reports and presentations. Prepares drafts for review; incorporates suggestions to write and prepare final versions.
Engages with internal and external constituencies to obtain necessary information.
Provides project assistance and administrative support to planning initiatives and working groups as assigned.
Working Environment:
- Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting, subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse.
- Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or be subject to resolution of conflicts.
- Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
- Use critical thinking to make decisions and/or analyze and report data/results.
- Infrequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 25 pounds.
- Regular use of standard office equipment including computer workstation/laptop, printer, fax, calculator, copier, telephone, and associated peripherals.
Job Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications:
Knowledge of financial modeling principles, methods and practices.
Skill in analyzing complex problems using data.
Skill in verbal and written communication, including visual presentation of data.
Knowledge of spreadsheet and presentation software.
Knowledge of principles, methods, and practices of university governance, institutional research, and enrollment management.
Skill in interpersonal relations and project management.
Ability to work effectively in an environment subject to quickly changing and potentially conflicting priorities.
