Job Duties

Identify and lead projects that create systems which provide timely, accurate, and useful data, information, metrics and analysis to support data-driven decision-making. Assist decision-makers with analyzing, understanding and generating action based on data.

Design, develop, validate and implement business intelligence solutions such as reports and dashboards. Take a leadership role in developing, supporting and delivering predictive analytics.

Lead in the design, implementation, and validation of a college data lake/data warehouse.

Lead or assist in designing, monitoring, analyzing and reporting information for internal and external customers which supports operations and tracks attainment of college goals and objectives.

Collaborate with Information Technology Services staff on BI projects. Identify barriers and recommend solutions for security, data integrity, self-service, definition and policy issues which limit analysis and functionality of required information.

Design and deliver BI training, direction and support to IRE staff and the College’s functional users.

Promote the use of BI tools.

Provide timely, readily accessible data acquisition, information and analysis for college staff that can be used in decision-making Provide consultation to other areas of the College regarding design and interpretation of reports and/or studies to address their unique needs.

Ensure timely and accurate institutional reporting in compliance with Federal, state and system-level mandates (e.g., IPEDS, WTCS reporting). 

Coordinate with and support College data governance efforts.

Maintain current professional/ technical knowledge through professional education and activities. Know and stay current on related laws and regulations. Participate on College and state-wide committees.

Job Qualifications

Master’s degree in a technical (Statistics, Computer Science, Information Management) or analytical (e.g. Psychology, Sociology, Business Administration) field.

Three (3) years of related experience with emphasis on business intelligence working with large databases and an ERP system.

Thorough knowledge of research techniques (e.g., advanced data analysis tools such as SPSS; research principles and methodologies).

Thorough knowledge of and proficiency in the design use and integration of databases, data models and/or other data sources.

Thorough knowledge of and proficiency in direct querying and the use of business intelligence tools (e.g. SQL, PowerBI, Python) with large databases to develop solutions, reports, and assure data integrity.

Effective interpersonal communication skills - oral, written and listening.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and an aptitude for working with confidential information.

Ability to read, understand and follow technical manuals and procedural documentation.

Analytical ability to compile and review numerical data and statistics and to effectively communicate complex analytical information and recommendations to non-technical staff.

Ability to attend closely to detailed work, completing and maintaining a high level of accuracy.

Ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to work processes.

Ability to train users on analytical tools and provide feedback.

Institution Description

WCTC is a two-year college in the western suburbs of the greater Milwaukee metropolitan area. Our primary work is with career programs, although we also have ABE/ESL and corporate/contract training. We serve about 11,000 undergraduates per year and generate about 3,500 FTE.
