Job Duties
The post-doctoral scholar will contribute directly to the development and advancement of NSSE and associated projects by co-leading a number of initiatives focused on supporting higher education institutions use NSSE data most effectively. This will include leading specific aspects of NSSE’s grant portfolio, advancing scholarship related to data-use, capacity building, and student success in higher education, as well as working collaboratively with the NSSE Institute to design and deliver campus specific support related to data use. Depending on the candidate’s expertise, this could also include developing and securing external funding, as well as launching and leading externally facing projects to support higher education leaders’ use of NSSE data.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must have a completed doctorate in higher education or related field before the beginning of the appointment. Successful candidates will bring experience working in or directly supporting higher education institutions. Previous experiences could include roles in the field of higher education and student affairs, institutional research, higher education policy, or other roles related to improving U.S. higher education. Candidates should also be able to demonstrate experience with or a practical understanding of assessment and/or data-use for institutional improvement.
Preferred Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have expertise in student success, assessment and evaluation, or data-use; multiple years of full-time work experience in one or more of the higher education contexts mentioned above; and possess strong written communication skills and demonstrated experience leading complex projects. Above all, candidates should show evidence of leadership potential, and the ability to collaborate and thrive in a team-based research environment. Expertise related to survey methodology, quantitative research design, and data visualization tools are welcomed but not required.

Institution Description
The Center for Postsecondary Research (CPR) promotes student success and institutional excellence by conducting and disseminating research on student access, assessment, engagement, and persistence and by providing assistance to postsecondary institutions and related agencies in gathering and using data for public and institutional educational policies and institutional improvement. The Center is housed in the School of Education at Indiana University Bloomington. Projects include the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE), the Faculty Survey of Student Engagement (FSSE), the Beginning College Survey of Student Engagement (BCSSE), and others.
