Job Duties

• Partner with campus leaders to align data strategy with institutional needs.
• Supervise and mentor a team of analysts and technical professionals.

Job Qualifications

Qualifications
• Leadership experience in institutional research, analytics, or enterprise data management, ideally in higher education.
• Expertise in analytics, data infrastructure, and data informed decision making.
• Experience with BI tools such as Tableau or similar platforms.
• Experience working with modern data platforms such as Snowflake, SQL, or comparable technologies.
• Strong background in statistical analysis, data visualization, and reporting.
• Knowledge of data governance, FERPA compliance, and data security practices.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.

Another Source's client, UC Santa Cruz, is recruiting a Director of Institutional Research and Data Management to join their team in Santa Cruz, California. This role offers remote flexibility with the expectation of being on campus approximately once per month or once per quarter.

About the Department
Budget Analysis and Planning (BAP) is a strategic unit within Finance, Operations and Administration that advises senior leadership including the Chancellor, Provost, and Chief Financial Officer on the university’s operating budget and fiscal health. BAP integrates the Budget Office, Data Management, and Institutional Research, Analytics, and Planning Support (IRAPS) to align budget planning, data governance, institutional reporting, and analytics that inform campus decision making.

About the Role
This newly created leadership role combines institutional research and enterprise data management. The Director will serve as the campus data champion, helping strengthen a culture of data informed decision making across the university.

With a modernized data warehouse implementation underway and a new reporting environment emerging, the Director will guide a team of analysts and data professionals while helping shape the university’s future data strategy.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $200,000 - $230,000 annually.
