Senior Institutional Research Data Analyst - University

Job Duties

  • Collaborate with colleges/departments to identify information needs
  • Collect, analyze, interpret, and report data and information for decision support
  • Audit data and resolve discrepancies using standard procedures to ensure data is complete, accurate, and up to date
  • Maintain and update policies and procedures documenting current processes
  • Troubleshoot/resolve data issues related to tasks
  • Perform first-line testing of new tools and repairs before changes go live
  • Analyze data and prepare reports for accrediting agencies and leadership
  • Prepare reports and analyze data for departments and colleges as requested
  • Assist university with data collection methods and reporting
  • Supports activity tracking and performance metrics
  • Collaborate on strategic planning and accreditation-related initiatives

Job Qualifications

Required Job Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in statistics, data analytics, or related field
  • 3-5 years’ experience working with relational databases and structured query languages (i.e., SQL)
  • Understanding of concepts in research/survey methodology, data collection, and analyses.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complete data and communicate issues, findings, and recommendations
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments and projects of varying degrees of complexity.
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
  • Advanced ability to create summary reports using statistical tools, charts, and graphs.
Preferred Job Qualifications
  • Experience creating dashboards in Microsoft PowerBI
  • Previous experience working in Institutional Research, Decision Support, or Faculty Affairs.
  • Work experience in a large academic center system or similar environment

Job Summary

The University Institutional Research Sr. Data Analyst manages data for Rush University, ensuring accuracy, completeness, integrity, and compliance with internal and external reporting. Primary duties of the University Research Sr. Data Analyst include data collection, validation, analysis, and reporting to department’s administrative team, supporting strategic planning and accreditation. The analyst will also collaborate with and/or support, as needed, with Rush’s Digital & Information System (D & IS) team as well as Institutional Research upper management.
