Job Duties
Washington University in St. Louis—one of the nation’s premier research universities seeks a strategic, collaborative, and analytically exceptional Senior Director of Enterprise Decision Support (EDS).
This senior leader will shape the university’s enterprise-wide decision-support function, providing neutral, high-quality analytical insight that guides resource allocation, strategic planning, and investment decisions. The Senior Director partners closely with academic, clinical, research, and administrative leaders—advancing institutional priorities through rigorous analyses, business case development, and effective storytelling grounded in data.
This role offers the opportunity to influence high-impact decisions for a globally ranked university and top-tier academic medical center, working at the intersection of strategy, finance, data, and institutional leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead creation of decision-ready business cases supporting academic, clinical, research, and administrative priorities.
- Ensure consistent analytical standards, assumptions, and scenario modeling across all EDS work.
- Provide insights and recommendations to senior leaders, including the CFO, CAO, Provost, Deans, and enterprise governance bodies.
- Initiate new analyses, benchmarking, and modeling to inform strategy and resource allocation.
- Partner with leaders across WashU and WashU Medicine to frame decisions, evaluate options, and clarify strategic questions.
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of professional analysts.
- Prepare executive-level materials for councils, Cabinet, and the Board of Trustees.

Job Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 8+ years of experience in enterprise decision support, FP&A, consulting, healthcare finance, investment banking, higher education administration, or similar analytical roles.
- Proven experience working with senior leaders and supervising professional staff.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree (MBA, MHA, MPH, MPP, or related).
- Experience in an R1 research university or similar large, complex organization.
- Quantitative background with ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
