Data Analyst

LC State invites applications for a Data Analyst.
Salary and Rank: $49,754 - $60,000, depending on experience and qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field (e.g., data science, statistics, computer science, information systems, mathematics, business analytics, social science, or related discipline)
One to three years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience with:
o SQL querying and database management
o Operational reporting and data visualization (Power BI or Tableau)
o Advanced Excel
o Data validation and quality control
Ability to learn technical skills through training and mentorship
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree from an accredited institution in a related field
Experience with or strong interest in:
o Programming/scripting for automation and data workflows - ability to automate repetitive tasks
o ERP systems (Banner, Colleague, PeopleSoft)
o Data governance and data quality frameworks
o Predictive modeling or statistical analysis
o Higher education data and reporting (e.g., IPEDS)
o Statistical software (SPSS, SAS, R) and survey tools (Qualtrics)
o Advanced SQL techniques and ETL processes
o FERPA and data privacy practices
Responsibilities:
Develop and optimize SQL queries to extract, validate, and report institutional data
Create dashboards and reports using Power BI or Tableau to support decision-making
Perform data validation, cleansing, and documentation of datasets and processes
Extract and integrate data from multiple sources, including student, financial, and HR databases
Assist in automating reporting processes and maintaining documentation
Conduct data analysis and ensure accuracy through validation routines
Prepare federal and state compliance reports, including IPEDS with support from team
Respond to internal data requests and translate needs into technical solutions
Collaborate with team on survey design, administration, and analysis using Qualtrics
Collaborate with IT staff to maintain data security and integrity per FERPA requirements
Stay current on data analysis tools, SQL, and emerging technologies through ongoing professional development
Manage multiple projects with attention to detail and deadlines
Perform other duties as assigned, including enrollment support and recruitment/retention activities
